Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani established one of its branches in 2008 in Shameerpet, Hyderabad, India. The institute is commonly known as BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus or BHPC. The first batch of the institute graduated in 2012. It’s an autonomous university. The vision of the institute is to provide knowledge in every field and produce global leaders. The director and vice chancellor of the institute is V.S.Rao and the chancellor is Kumar Mangalam Birla.
The campus is built in the lush green surroundings. The campus includes central library and auditorium, laboratories for engineering and science, well furnished classrooms, student activity center, and modern ICT infrastructure. It comprises of playgrounds for sports like basketball, badminton, football, hockey, cricket, lawn tennis, etc. The rock garden in the institute is an inspiration for the institute magazine named, On The Rocks. BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus promotes research projects with the help of funds from India and abroad.
The Practice School is a compulsory internship for the students of all the degrees at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus or BHPC. It is a linkage between what the students study at the campus and how that can be used in real life at a work place. Highly reputed companies large and small visit the campus for recruitment. The recruitment rate is 90%.They are namely, Accolite, Amazon, CEAT Ltd, CBRE, Cisco systems, Cognizant, Deloitte, FIAT,FMC, Google, Hitachi Consulting, Honda, Indian Army, Infosys, JP Morgan IB, Microsoft, Oracle, Reddy Labs, Samsung, Sapient, Sony, TCS Analytics, Unilever and many more.
In BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus or BHPC every year approximate 750 students are admitted in undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs. It also offers dual degree program to the students. The entrance to the courses is through BITSAT online exam. The institutes has various degrees like B.E.(Hons.), B.Pharm(Hons.), M.Sc.(Hons.), M.Sc.(Tech), M.E., M.Phil, M.Pharm and Ph.D program in different fields. The cut off varies from program to program.
